Family Vacation

This summer we will be taking our first "real" vacation with Justin. He'll be flying on a plane for the first time! When we went down to Florida recently there were a couple of babies on the plane, and they were all pretty good. I think we have to bring the car seat on with us, and strap the car seat into the plane seat. I'll have to look into it. I actually hate flying. I hate it more each time. I think it's because Chris and I went to Vegas in 2000 and when the plane was just about to land, the pilot gunned the engine and took off into the air again, saying he was coming in at the wrong angle. Yikes.

We're going to Michigan. My dad's family mostly lives out in Chicago, and they rent a bed & breakfast on a river near Lake Michigan for a week every summer, and this summer we're all going, too. It may be the first time that Justin gets to meet his great-grandma! So that's exciting. I'm looking forward to it.

Today we had Gymboree, which Justin really enjoyed again. He still wasn't too into some of the activities, like sitting on the mat and clapping hands - instead he threw a ball around the room and crawled after it and threw it again. But he did like climbing and playing with the tambourines hanging from one of the jungle gyms.

And, today was also Justin's first trip to the grocery store! I know - you are all shocked. 364 days old and never been inside a supermarket. But remember, I use the greatest thing ever - Peapod. So there is really never a need for me to go there with the baby - anytime I ever have to run out for something, there is usually someone around to watch him. But not today. So we ventured into Pathmark (worst supermarket ever). Justin loves sitting in the carts, so he was pretty happy the whole time we were at the store. I was happy until I had to deal with the incredibly rude checkout boy. I had placed a dozen eggs on the front of the conveyer belt, but when I looked in the first bag he packed, they weren't in there. So I asked where the eggs went, since they were no longer up on the belt. The kid kept insisting that I did not buy eggs, and he actually picked up the butter and said "well, this isn't eggs" and then picked up the cheese and said "this isn't eggs either". And then I found them in the second bag he packed up, and he had to apologize to me. I mean, really, what is wrong with people? Was that really necessary for him to actually pick up other items and treat me like I was a complete idiot? So that's one of the reasons I use Peapod - I don't have to deal with $#&*! like that.

Chris went to his first appointment with the personal trainer today, and it went well, so I'm glad. I went to the gym too. Got to keep up!

They say that the reason a lot of babies cry on planes is cause of the ear popping. I flew to Australia with a baby that cried for probably about 14 hours of a 17 hour flight.

    Good times

I'm just flipping through your posts and have to say HOLY CAPOLA! to this pic. Justin looks so much like Cap it's disturbing. I mean I know he's his dad and all so this really isn't all that shocking. But it's still nuts to me.
