What a Set of Lungs This Kid Has!
Wow. Justin has learned how to scream. I'm not used to this! He's always been the most calm, happy little boy - honestly, he rarely cries. So this constant screaming at the top of his lungs is a little nerve-wracking for me. But we're dealing. I think the poor kid is just hungry, but I don't want to give him too much food or any formula until I'm sure his stomach is a little stronger. Maybe tomorrow. He's finally a bit calmer right now - I have him in his high chair watching Baby Einstein. I hate to just strap him in front of the television - it makes me feel like a bad mother. But other than a video a couple of times a week, I don't have him watching television. So it's probably not so bad. Nowadays all these "parenting experts" on tv and internet warn you to never let your kid watch television until they are at least 2 years old, that they'll get ADD or something, but I think as long as it's something called Baby Einstein, and there's no violence or anything, an hour a week shouldn't cause any harm. In all reality, it just isn't possible to not give yourself a break every now and then.
So he's calm right now - he's had a bottle of pedialyte this morning and about 5oz. of applesauce and bananas mixed. Even when he's crying, he'll do the funniest things - like he'll stop in the middle of a screaming fit and put his hands on his head and shake it back and forth, which is how he says "mama mia". It's just funny because it fits the context, but of course he can't know that!
I'm feeling better this week, so I've headed back to the gym, and Chris has had a couple of appointments with a personal trainer, and has done cardio on his days off, which is great. Time to get back into shape! I really didn't gain much weight over the holidays, maybe 2-4 pounds. So that's not too bad. I just need to get that off and then I'd love to lose another 15 pounds over the next several months. My ultimate goal was to lose another 30 pounds, but that may be unrealistic...we'll see.
Well, the screaming has begun again. Good times!
