Baby Einstein
Justin got another haircut today. This time I did it super short...that was an accident, but it actual looks adorable. He looks like such a big boy with short hair - I can't believe how big he is getting and all the new things he is doing. He walks a lot now, the other day he walked from the window in the living room all the way out into the hall and then into the kitchen.
We went to Gymboree today. There is only Justin and one other little girl in the class so they are cancelling it. Next week I will have to try a 10:15 class on Thursday. I am just concerned that he'll fall asleep on the drive home and then not take his long nap, but we'll see how it goes. There are 8 kids in the Thursday class, so that should be interesting. He participated a little bit today, and seemed more interested in little Victoria, too. He even let go of the ball he was playing with to crawl over near her and wave to her when she came in. It was so cute! How social of him.
The Gymboree instructor is majoring in child development in college. She was very impressed with how much Justin "talks". She asked if he watches Baby Einstein. He probably watches a video about 3 or 4 times a week - not too much tv. But she said that there are actual studies of kids who watch Baby Einstein vs. kids who watch Sesame Street, and that the ones who watch BE develop skills quicker. So there you go, we have our own little einstein in the house. Who knows if that's true or not, but it's what she told me.
I'm trying to get him to drink his 4:30 bottle of milk out of a sippy cup. He no longer seems to want to drink that bottle...Well, if it's out of the green and blue sippy cup, he sometimes drinks it. If it's out of the yellow and blue sippy cup, he wants nothing to do with it.
He's been eating his new foods well - had eggs 4 times this week, and loves the veggie fritters I made him for lunch. This morning I made him a whole grain waffle with bananas sauteed with some butter, syrup, and cinnamon. He seemed to love it at first, but after about 7 bites, he started giving me trouble, and then we only got through half of it before I gave in and gave him the oatmeal. He figured out my trick of offering him a cheerio to get him to open his mouth, and then I'd stick the spoon in with the waffle. Pretty soon he wouldn't even eat the cheerios! But at least we're trying. Tonight I'm going to make him some chicken and broccoli in a cheese sauce. We'll see how successful that is...
Chris and I have been doing very well with going to the gym. He goes to the trainer 3x a week and then does cardio at home at least 2 or 3 other days. I've started working out twice a day - this is the 3rd day and my legs are exhausted, but it seems to be the only thing that works for me. My team seems to be ahead in the competition at the gym, so that's good.
Well, I'll post a picture of him w/ his new haircut a little later on when I get upstairs and upload the pics...
