Is it Mid-August Already???

How did it get to be the middle of August so quickly? Summer is almost over. Boo! But we have been really busy the past couple of weeks. Chris and I went camping 2 weekends ago with Tom & Ali, Chris & Jen, and a bunch of friends - we've done this for about 5 years now and it was a great time again this year. We did some kayaking, cooked some good food, and drank around a campfire until all hours of the morning (and got in trouble by campsite security both nights - all the other campsites were pretty lame, we were up the latest and apparently partied the most!)

Last weekend we brought Justin up to the lake for the first time this summer - we just hadn't been able to get there. He loved it - he ran right into the water and splashed around. He got his first full head dunk, and didn't even cry...in fact, he didn't let it slow him down at all! By the third morning, he was banging at the door begging us to bring him down to the water. So we're heading back up tonight for the weekend again.

Next weekend is our 12th annual summer party, which started off in the summer of 1996 with college friends, and has become an annual event each year on the last weekend of August. We still get a good showing of UMass people, and the NJ crew attends as well. It's always a great time, and I look forward to it each year. Unfortunately, once the party is over, that means the next weekend is Labor Day, and summer is pretty much over too. :(

BUT...we mean to enjoy these last couple of weeks as much as possible! I'm looking forward to having a good time with Justin upstate this weekend. And he has been doing great around other kids lately - I've seen a huge improvement in the past couple of months. We've been going on more playdates and going to gymboree a couple times a week, and I've been very happy to see him interacting more with other kids.

Oh, and he's back to taking a 2 to 3 hour nap each day, although now they start around 2pm. Woo-hoo!
