Sitting in a Real Firetruck
I wish I had a picture of Justin's face from Sunday afternoon when I took him into the garage at the town firehouse and let him sit on the back of a real firetruck. He was so excited! Unfortunately I did not have a camera. He is still walking around saying "Justin sitting in a real firetruck!" So cute.Of course, it wasn't easy to drag him back to the birthday party that was going on in the other room...but I have to say he did really well. We were at the party for about 3 hours and once I gave in and tied a balloon to his pants, he was happy for the rest of the time we were there. I got a glimpse of what we are in for in the future though - a bunch of screaming kids, pinatas, cotton candy, limbo...wow. I'm still just trying to figure out what to do for his 2nd birthday in a couple of months!
Today playgroup was at our house. I'm not sure how many kids are in an average playgroup, but somehow I think 16 is a bit above the norm! Only 13 showed up today (like that's much of a difference!) I was a little worried about how Justin would react to having a bunch of his "friends" over who would all be playing with his toys, but he was great! He didn't mind at all. I set up coffee and some snacks down in the basement (which Chris spent the last week painting in order to get ready for today), and I managed to keep all the kids downstairs for the entire morning. And they didn't do any damage to the carpet, the couch, or each other, which was great.
Justin had his 21 month checkup yesterday. Despite all the screaming that went on during the visit, he's doing great - 30 lbs, 36-37 inches tall, and the doctor said he is talking way more than most kids do at his age. So I'm a proud mama.
Congratulations to the Lacey family (see the Will Power link on the right side of this page) as they welcome their new daughter Evelyn Hill! She's beautiful!
Happy Birthday Corky!
